(tel·ma·tol·o·gy | ˌtelməˈtäləjē ) noun

Definition: a branch of physical geography concerned with the study of wetlands (such as marshes or swamps)

Bio

I am a PhD Candidate and NSF Graduate Research Fellow at UC Santa Barbara’s Department of Geography working with Jennifer King, Dar Roberts, Ian Walker, and Kristin Byrd.

I am a telmatologist with an interest in coastal wetland ecosystems. My background is in biophysical geography, with a focus in remote sensing, biogeochemistry, and other biophysical processes of coastal wetlands. I largely focus on wetland landscape and spatial response to disturbance and environmental change. When I’m not running around in marshes or hard at work processing images, I can be found doing film photography (pictured above), cooking, and taking plenty of walks with my dog.
